A gas interconnector licence covers the operation of the high pressure pipelines that physically link the gas network of Great Britain with other countries, such as the pipelines to Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland and Northern Ireland. These links let gas flow in and out of the country in response to demand and prices. Only a handful of companies hold this licence.
