Electricity transmission licensees own and operate the high voltage grid that moves large volumes of power across the country, along with the offshore transmission links (OFTOs) that connect offshore wind farms to shore. The onshore grid is owned by three regional companies, while each offshore wind farm connection is owned by a competitively appointed OFTO.
